Find Out MoreAbout Making Northern Ireland
Making Northern Ireland looks at Ulster-Scots history and culture from the Plantation period on to show how unionist politicians called on Ulster’s strong Scottish connections in their campaign against Home Rule that was to lead to the creation of Northern Ireland.
With content written by Wesley Hutchinson, Professor Emeritus at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and original illustrations by award-winning animator John McCloskey, it is designed to highlight how interest in Ulster-Scots history and culture formed an essential aspect of unionist political strategy in the period leading up to the creation of Northern Ireland in 1921.
The website was primarily developed as an educational resource for KS3 and KS4 students but will be of interest to anyone who loves history and culture.
