Record a Podcast
Record a podcast reporting the dramatic events of the Larne gun-running.
Workshop 1
Students will make a podcast reporting on the daring night-time military operation to smuggle thousands of rifles into Ulster. The success of this operation sent an electric shock though Ireland and indeed the whole of the United Kingdom. Coming soon after the Curragh Mutiny in March 1914, this dramatic event changed the political climate in favour of unionist resistance to Home Rule.
Creating a podcast on the Larne gun-running will provide students with the opportunity to take on the role of a reporter and eyewitness to the event and use podcasting software to portray the Ulster-Scot not only as self-reliant and energetic organiser but also as determined fighter in the resistance against Home Rule.
Workshop at Coleraine College
Watch students from Coleraine College undertake the Record a Podcast module at Key Stage 3 level using iPad software, and their best storytelling and interview techniques.
This module enables cross-curricular engagement bringing together ICT, history, literacy, drama, and is a great confidence builder for students to reimagine this material in a creative way.
