An exciting new XR training programme for Northern Ireland’s creative sector will take place across the region throughout 2025
The free programme will offer XR training and development opportunities — giving filmmakers, producers, artists and creatives the skills and confidence needed to leverage the latest immersive technologies.
This programme is aimed at established creatives, as well as those who are keen to explore XR technologies but are uncertain about where to get started. During the first phase of this programme, participants will have access to free masterclasses with leading industry professionals.
XR Innovate Training
Join online and in-person training with leading XR practitioners from across the UK and Ireland who will showcase innovative projects. These sessions will inspire creatives to realise the potential of immersive technologies.

This beginner friendly skills session introduces the essentials of Unreal Engine through clear, practical exercises. Across the day you will set up a fresh project, place and move objects, add light and colour for readability, and create a simple on-screen interaction.

AR Rapid Prototyping in Unreal | XR Innovate Skills Training
Want to see your 3D work appear in the real world? On this beginner-friendly day you’ll learn to create an AR demo in Unreal that can run on an iPad, learning the essentials step by step.

Tuesday 25 November, 11am
Capture, Tracking and LED Volumes: Practical Pipelines
Curious about XR production but not sure how the pieces fit together? This practical, day long session demystifies the pipeline, showing how on-set capture, camera and object tracking, and LED volumes connect.
You’ll follow simple, repeatable workflows, watch concise demos, use clear checklists, and rotate through stations to experience the process from set-up to playback.

XR Skills Training 4
Thursday 27 November, 2pm
Blender for VR: Linear Storytelling Workflows
This skills session focuses on practical skills.
You’ll plan a short sequence, block out shots with basic models, set up comfortable camera moves that read well in a headset, add simple lighting for clarity, and export a short clip that can be viewed in VR.
You’ll also learn how to organise your files so you can keep developing the piece afterwards.

Spatial Audio for Immersive: Building Presence with Sound
Want to make sound do the storytelling? In this online Unreal Engine workshop you’ll build a short spatial audio scene that guides attention and creates presence, step by step.
This practical session focuses on gaining practical skills in spatial audio.

The XR Innovate training programme is open to a wide range of creatives — including those from the screen industries looking to transition into immersive technologies (or pursue CPD opportunities), those eager to explore immersive in their creative practice, and students or graduates seeking to gain practical skills to begin their careers.
