How do you create a world you can’t see but can still feel completely immersed in?
Delivered by: Victoria Eyton (DARKFIELD)
This masterclass delves into the role of spatial audio in XR and the emotional and narrative impact of binaural sound. Led by DARKFIELD’s Victoria Eyton, the session explores how immersive sound design can create presence, manipulate perception, and drive audience experience, particularly in non-visual environments.
Drawing from DARKFIELD’s globally renowned container-based audio experiences, Victoria will unpack how texture, location and rhythm shape the narrative arc in XR spaces and leave lasting psychological impressions.
Designed especially for creatives who are curious about using spatial sound, this session will highlight how sound alone can deliver world-building, storytelling, and embodied experience.
About DARKFIELD
DARKFIELD produces innovative immersive experiences at the forefront of theatre and technology. Blending cutting-edge binaural 360° sound, sensory effects, and pitch-black environments, DARKFIELD’s container-based performances immerse each participant at the centre of carefully engineered, often unsettling narratives. Their experiences combine performance art with technical precision, stripping away the visual to amplify the visceral.
Since 2016, DARKFIELD has reached over half a million people globally with works featured at BFI London Film Festival, Venice, Tribeca, SXSW, Raindance, and IDFA. Their digital productions have also been recognised internationally, including winning the 2021 Columbia Digital Storytelling Lab Breakthrough Award for innovation in narrative form.
