Animation Academy
The Animation Academy is a unique free training programme open to any young person throughout the region aged 16-19 with the talent and commitment to take up a career within the animation industry.
About this Course
The Animation Academy was developed by Nerve Centre in 2018 to respond to the demands of the industry and has established links with leading Animation companies Paper Owl, Sixteen South, JAM Media, Dog Ears and ALT Animation to deliver a course that meets the needs of the industry.
The Academy focuses on developing 2D animation skills, taking young people through the process of creating their own animation from development to final output.
Our Team
The Academy is led by Alastair McIlwain who has over 50 years experience in the Animation industry from working on the TV series Roobarb in the 1970s to Feature films such as Pink Floyd: The Wall. Nerve Centre Animators, John McCloskey (BAFTA nominated) and Deirdre Gribbin are a key part of the delivery team.
Nerve Belfast’s unique collaboration with industry on the Animation Academy was previously recognised by Creative and Cultural Skills and won the Award for Education and Industry Collaborative Project.
