Shared Histories
is a cross-border Artist-in-the-Community project that weaves together archival family album photographs and contemporary images to reflect on photographic representations of the borderlands in Ireland.

Led by commissioned artist and curator Ben Malcolmson, this cross-border initiative has brought together participants from diverse border communities in Donegal, Derry~Londonderry, Fermanagh, Armagh, Down, Louth, and Monaghan to explore photographic representations and share their diverse experiences of living in the borderlands.

Over the course of one year, Ben and the team from Photo Museum Ireland have worked with individuals and communities to explore themes of heritage, identity, and belonging to the borderlands in Ireland, past and present.

This public event will feature an edited selection of personal stories, family photographs, and artistic contributions from participants from diverse border communities along with a new video work by project curator and artist Ben Malcolmson.

The project has been developed in partnership with Donegal County Council, the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny, Nerve Centre, Derry~Londonderry and the National Library of Ireland.

The event will also include a live DJ set and refreshments.

Launch event, Friday 21 March from 6pm
Pop-up show open to public on Saturday 22 March 10am – 5pm.
