Shadows on Our Skin | Reel Lives
Nerve Centre, 7-8 Magazine Street, Derry~Londonderry
Admission: £6 + booking fee
Screening in commemoration of the late author and playwright Jennifer Johnston.
Foyle Film Festival presents the fully restored version of this powerful and evocative portrait of 1970s Derry, rarely screened since its initial airing as part of the Play Today Series in 1980.
Based on Jennifer Johnston’s novel of the same name, Shadows on Our Skin tells the story of 11 year old Joe, growing up in the Bogside area of Derry in the midst of The Troubles. Frustrated with his disaffected family and the pervasive military presence, he finds his life expanded in new and potentially exciting ways after a chance meeting with school-teacher Kathleen.
