From Hirokazu Koreeda, the Oscar® nominated director of Shoplifters and Broker, arrives Monster.

When her young son Minato (Soya Kurokawa) starts to behave strangely, his mother (Sakura Ando: Shoplifters, Love Exposure) feels that there is something wrong.

Discovering that a teacher (Eita Nagayama) is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what's going on. But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher and child, the truth gradually emerges.

“By cutting things up and showing us the perils of fractured perspectives, the director, one of cinema’s great humanists, demonstrates that compassion is more than just a natural state of being; it’s a process that requires constant expansion of one’s field of vision. I’m not sure I’ve seen a better film about the indisputable (and increasingly relevant) fact that we never really know what someone else is going through.” Bilge Ebiri, Vulture.
