Hands-On Filmmaking Programme | Create a Hilarious News Report Parody
Nerve Centre, 7-8 Magazine Street, Derry~Londonderry
Admission: Free
Are you aged 16–21 and interested in filmmaking, comedy, or just exploring important topics in a fun and creative way?
We’re looking for young, creative minds to join our 3-day Filmmaking Workshop where in small groups you’ll get the chance to write, direct, and star in your very own news report parody
What’s it about?
This workshop is all about exploring the Irish Border—past, present, and future—but with a twist. Instead of boring lectures, you’ll dive into the world of satire and humour. Think mock news reports, over-the-top weather forecasts, and hilarious interviews with ‘local experts’ (played by you, of course!). It’s your chance to put your spin on some serious topics while having a blast with other young people.
What you’ll do:
Day 1: Get your creative juices flowing with brainstorming and scripting sessions.
Day 2: Lights, camera, action! Spend the day filming your segments with your team.
Day 3: Learn the basics of editing and watch your ideas come to life on screen.
Why join?
Get Creative: Unleash your inner filmmaker and comedian.
Learn New Skills: Gain hands-on experience in scripting, directing, and filming.
Make Friends: Connect with other young people who share your interests.
Have Fun: Who said learning about history and politics can’t be fun?
No experience? No problem. Whether you’re a seasoned filmmaker or just curious, we’ll guide you every step of the way.
Ready to create something amazing? Sign up now to secure your spot. Spaces are limited, so don’t miss out!
This programme is delivered in partnership with Ulster University and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
