Nerve Centre student Philip Steele releases EP, Reflection

Consisting of four tracks, Reflection was born from a ‘sudden rush of creativity and inspiration’ earlier in the year. Philip has already completed the Music Performance & Technology course and is currently studying Music Production. Facilitated by Glenn Rosborough, this OCN NI Level 3 course teaches the skills associated with making music in the modern digital studio.

‘I've been attending Glenn’s classes at the Nerve Centre for over a year now and have found them extremely helpful both in teaching and experience,’ Philip explained. He also attended the Prince’s Trust Get Started with Music initiative delivered by Nerve Centre during the summer, which culminated with a performance at Stendhal Festival.

The Derry~Londonderry native, who has been playing and writing his own music since the age of 12, said that his goal for the EP was ‘to give the listener an experience, beginning with a dark, longing and melancholy atmosphere and ending on a content and hopeful note’.

Eventually Philip hopes to break into the film scoring industry, where he’ll no doubt apply what he’s learnt. With plans to build further on his songwriting skills, Philip Steele will be a name to listen out for in the new year.

You can find Reflection at Mad About Music on Castle Street. It’s also available to listen or purchase online now. Find Philip Steele on Facebook and Instagram.
