The aim of the Shortcut project is to educate students through film about pertinent issues such as human rights, mental health, diversity and more.
The Shortcut project was developed by Nerve Centre alongside three other organisations from Poland, Czech Republic and Portugal with the support of the European Union Creative Europe Media Programme.
The new website contains a catalogue of thought-provoking short films which champion leadership, inclusion and creativity. Nerve Centre has also created learning materials to accompany the films, exploring citizenship, social issues and personal development.
This past year as part of their Post Primary Partnership programme, Nerve Belfast Creative Learning Centre worked with three schools: Belfast Boys' Model School, Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College and Aquinas Grammar. The Year 10 classes explored the films and learning resources before producing a short film of their own highlighting issues such as mental health, bullying, screen addiction and, more recently, the coronavirus lockdown. Check out their films below.
The full catalogue of short films and corresponding learning resources are accessible to all registered educational institutions and their students. Register here.
