Get Into The Creative Industries with Nerve Centre’s Full-Time Courses

The award-winning creative arts centre offers five courses designed to give students a start in the industry, learn from professional mentors, meet people with similar interests and gain an Open Network College Level 3 accreditation.

Starting this September, courses are available in Music Performance, Creative Media, Music Production, Digital Film Production and Digital Fabrication.

The Music Production course combines the expertise and innovation of the Nerve Centre, with state-of-the-art equipment and studios and experienced tutors. Students are equipped with the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to produce, record, mix, master and release their own music.

Music Performance has been specifically designed to provide participants with the practical skills and knowledge to be a confident all-round performer and navigate the developing music industry landscape. The bespoke modules deliver a working knowledge of songwriting, recording techniques and live sound and music for film. Industry-experienced tutors provide tips and advice on releasing and entering the industry as an artist and practical skills on band formation and communication.

Former student, Lochláinn Kelly, now a successful event promoter explains more; “Having gone through the regular school system beforehand, the Music Performance course by the Nerve Centre really helped me understand so much more and become more well-versed with what it takes to be involved in all different sectors of the music industry, giving me better preparation for what I really want to do for my future career.”

The Creative Media course provides both practical and theory-based knowledge of the digital media skills required for the ever-changing creative industry. Course units cover a range of creative disciplines including filmmaking, sound production, digital imaging and web design.

Digital Film Production is a hands-on and technical course where learners acquire the skills and knowledge needed to create high quality TV and film productions, whilst gaining an insight into working in the industry, media law and health and safety.

Speaking about her experience former student Jess Dunlop said: "This course was fantastic - it really opened my eyes to how it can lead you into so many different career paths in the media industry.

I would recommend this to anybody as you don't need any prior experience, all you need is a passion for the arts, whether that be filmmaking, art, design, or even music. Expand your creativity the way I did!"

New to the course syllabus this year is Digital Fabrication. Topics covered in this exciting new course will include introductions to 2D and 3D design using a range of software platforms, and access to cutting edge fabrication technologies including 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters and CNC routers.
