We are thrilled that two talented writers from our BFI Film Academy programmes, Carley Magee and Shannon Welby, have been chosen to participate in the Emerging Writers in Conversation event at London Film Festival 2024.
This event will feature a discussion with eight emerging writers, hosted by industry professionals. The writers will share their journeys and skills, highlighting their artistry and forging new connections within the industry. Carley and Shannon will be joined by other emerging writers Alys Metcalf, Andrew Wong, Angela Franklyn, Celia Morgan.
Carley Magee, a graduate of our 2022 programme, and Shannon Welby, a 2024 participant, will have the unique opportunity to showcase their work and network with industry professionals. Their selection is a testament to their exceptional skills and dedication as writers.
Joining the discussions will be Working Title Films co-chairs Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, alongside Head of International Production at Searchlight Pictures, Katie Goodson-Thomas. Working Title Films have produced some of the UKs most celebrated films, like the comedy classics Bridget Jones’s Diary and Johnny English. Searchlight Pictures are behind the latest indie classics and brilliant blockbusters like Jojo Rabbit, Yorgos Lanthimos’ recent success, Kinds of Kindness and the heartbreaking All Of Us Strangers.
