Dates: Monday 8 – Friday 12 August

3 Days Training in Blender with Filmmaker and Lecturer Mik Duffy

2 Days Training in Adobe After effects and practical VFX techniques with Niall Carlin director of Double Jump studios.

Monday 8 – Wednesday 10 August
Visual Effects (VFX) is the art of combining computer-generated (CG) sequences with live-action footage to create scenes that can't be filmed in real life. Using a combination of technical and artistic skills, alien landscapes, enormous crowd scenes or fire-breathing dragons can all be brought to our screens.

On this academy you will have the opportunity to gain training in Blender; a 3D computer graphics software used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D-printed models and motion graphics.

You will be working on footage that was shot by industry professionals on the short sci-fi film we produced last year; Human Error. This film was produced as part of the Production Design and Set construction academy.

Thursday 11 – Friday 12 August
Niall Carlin director of Double Jump studios will take you through an introduction to VFX techniques. Niall will also show practical examples of shooting for VFX and what you need to be aware of in this stage of production . You will have access to adobe after effects tutorials that Niall produced specifically for the VFX Academy.

This is a great opportunity to build up some of your own VFX sequences to include in your showreel.

Deadline: Monday 25 July
