Joshua Burnside brings his unique style of experimental folk to the Nerve Centre following his sell out show at the iconic Ulster Hall in December.

Experimental folk artist, Joshua Burnside is something of an anomaly. With a brooding, powerful sound echoing artists of places afar and time long gone, his enthralling craft strives towards an aesthetic as much as visual as it is sonic.

Balanced with a diverse palette of sounds, Burnside deftly blends alt-folk and elements of the Irish folk song tradition with South American rhythms and Eastern European influences, whilst introducing synthetic and found-sounds, synths loops and crunching beats to create a stormy world that shifts and swirls perspective like a lingering lucid dream.

Burnside catalogued the economics of the apocalypse on his critically acclaimed second album Into The Depths Of Hell in 2020 before a headline tour of sold-out dates across Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Galway, London, Glasgow and Newcastle.

Support by Rachel Craig

Rachel Craig is a singer-songwriter from Portstewart who lives in Derry, and she is here to make you feel. The first words you will hear in her voice are “I’m not afraid anymore”. The opening line of her debut single, The Ghost of You is a statement of intent, of aspiration and of affirmation.

Having spent the last few years writing songs and challenging the received wisdom of her university years that music must be complex to be interesting and worthwhile, Craig’s use of simple lyrics and opening tuning is an act of quiet defiance.
