This is director Frank Capra's classic bittersweet comedy/drama about George Bailey (James Stewart), the eternally in debt guiding force of a bank in the typical American small town of Bedford Falls. The film opens on Christmas Eve in 1946 and George, facing financial ruin and arrest, is seriously considering taking his own life. High above Bedford Falls, two celestial voices discuss Bailey's dilemma and decide to send down the eternally bumbling angel Clarence (Henry Travers), who after 200 years has yet to earn his wings, to help George out.

USA.1946. Director: Frank Capra. Cast: James Stewart, Donna Reed, Henry Travers, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell. Duration: 2hrs 10mins. Cert: U
