The BFI Short Film Script Development Lab is returning in July 2022. Learn all there is to know about screenwriting.
Throughout the course you will receive exclusive masterclasses from leading writers, producers, developers and script editors from the TV and film industry. These will include representatives from NI Screen, BBC Writers Room, Hat Trick productions and many more.
You will be guided by three industry mentors and will collaborate on the creation of a brand-new short film screenplay. A screenplay that might help get you that all important first professional credit.
One of the scripts developed last year was the short film ‘Locker’ has recently completed production.
Hannah McCormick was one of the writers who helped create the script and found the course really helpful. “I would definitely recommend the BFI labs for anyone who is thinking of a career in the screen industries or someone who has years of experience. The knowledge and skills gained from it are invaluable."
The Script Development Lab also provides an excellent chance to network with industry experts and meet possible future collaborators.
Michael Murray-Draine found that a chat with a guest speaker helped create an amazing opportunity for him. As Michael explains “I was able to meet Tim Loane, who gave me some amazing advice on how I should find an agent. I took this advice and am now signed to United Agents, so yes It definitely helped me develop my career.
The Script Development is open to people all over Northern Ireland and will initially take place online via Zoom but with a final in person showcase and networking session at Nerve Centre.
