Participants will work with the Nerve Centre and Cinemagic Festival teams in partnership with film exhibition partners including Foyle Film Festival and Queen’s Film Theatre Belfast to develop young people’s skills in programming films and celebrating cultural and specialised cinema.
The new group of young programmers will spend three days participating in workshops and discussions on the business of film festival programming as well as watching and reviewing films from around the world with a view to selecting a series of films over the next six months, which will be screened in Queen’s Film Theatre and the Nerve Centre. Further programming meets will take place over the summer months ahead of festival season in the autumn.

We’re looking forward to seeing the creativity and passion that a new generation of programmers will bring to our screens.'
The programmers academy delivered by the Network will educate participants in accessing film content, negotiating titles, working within budgets, print transport, programming themes and strands and how programming links with marketing, sales, promotion and audience development.
Previous Ones to Watch participants Sophia, Tomala and Molly travelled to Birmingham last year to learn about programming in a Young Audience Screening Day.

The Young Programmers will meet on February 19 and 20 in the Nerve Centre from 10.30am-3.30pm. Participants must be available to travel to Belfast for Wednesday February 20 to partner with Cinemagic and QFT for a joint day of activity.
