Great Gigs to Keep You Warm this Autumn at Nerve Centre

Summer’s over and the cold nights are starting to creep in, but the temperature won’t be dropping at the Nerve Centre anytime soon with a series of live music events to help you stay snug through September and October.

First up is some suitably fiery fretwork from the bona fide guitar god Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal, whose exceptional playing talent and expertise will be showcased in a special masterclass on Sunday September 17. Before Guns ‘N Roses’ original line-up reunited this year the performer, producer and music publisher spent almost a decade standing in for Slash – no small feat! Learn about his time in the band, recording the infamous Chinese Democracy and much more drawn from decades in the industry in this unmissable music clinic.

On Saturday September 30 the attention turns to hometown heroes John Deery and the Heads, who celebrate the release of their successfully crowdfunded third album Nothing Permanent Lasts with a triumphant launch gig. Perfect for a chilled autumn’s evening, the folk four-piece will have worthy support from alternative duo Waldorf and Cannon, fresh from playing Electric Picnic. Those who helped support the album campaign can also still use a promo code for an exclusive discount on tickets.

A week later the volume is dialled back up for the milestone fifteenth edition of Rockers Reunion. The North West’s biggest annual gathering for lovers of all things loud, this year features tributes to not one but two of the Big Four of metal’s founding fathers with Mentalitia and Megadeaf. There’ll also be covers of rock and metal classics courtesy of Bad to the Bone, while El Diablo honor the bearded blues of ZZ Top with renditions of Billy Gibbons and co’s timeless hits. So dust off your finest denim and raise those horns to a decade and a half of rock ‘n roll’s heaviest summit.

Younger music fans will delight in the return of Dublin favourites Hudson Taylor on Saturday October 14. The sibling duo released ‘Feel It Again’, their first new single in over two years, to an ecstatic response last month and are excited to be back on the road playing at venues all over Ireland. Don’t be surprised if this turns out to be the last chance to catch them in an intimate setting before they blow up across the rest of the world.

Fast becoming a regular fixture of the city’s music calendar, the immensely popular Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott will be back once more at the Millennium Forum to close out more than a month of great gigs on Sunday October 22. Audiences can look forward to hearing material from the pair’s three albums, including latest Crooked Calypso, alongside unforgettable numbers from their days as the Beautiful South.

There’s something to suit every taste, so don’t touch that central heating switch just yet – instead cosy up with the crowds and enjoy the unbeatable experience of live music at one of the best times of the year.

Tickets are on sale now via the Nerve Centre box office. Visit www.nervecentre.org or call 028 71 260 562. Admission for Rockers Reunion is £5 on the door.
