Opportunities for Young People

We run a variety of free online and face-to-face workshops and programmes throughout the year for children and young people with an interest in areas such as filmmaking, editing and post production, film production design (such as set design, costume design and make-up), animation, music, digital art and design, minecraft, 3D design, digital fabrication, and gaming.

These programmes are usually offered during the school holidays or after school.

We have many other creative programmes on offer including Screen Academies aimed at 16–19 year olds and CADi aimed at 14–18 year olds.

Community Partnerships

We provide training, support and guidance to grassroots community and youth organisations seeking to establish their own neighbourhood-based digital facilities and programmes that offer a different future to vulnerable young people.

Nerve Belfast’s strategic partnerships with Belfast South Community Resources (BSCR) in Sandy Row and Newtownabbey Arts and Cultural Network (NACN) in Rathcoole are good examples of the impact that CLCs can have on the lives of disadvantaged young people and the wider community. Nerve Centre’s partnership with the Playtrail has seen the establishment of a Fabfarm and a digital fabrication facility (FabSocial) at Ardnashee Special School in Derry~Londonderry. Young adults with additional needs are now designing and manufacturing their own products for sale.

We aim to work at this strategic level with a number of dynamic community/youth organisations each year in a long term partnership to develop their vision for young people, train their youth workers and volunteers, and build their organisational capacity to establish and operate their own digital facilities and programmes.
