Foyle Film Festival 2013

Foyle Film Festival 2013

The Foyle Film Festival, a flagship project of the Nerve Centre, once again delivered a packed programme of gala premieres, screenings and special events over five days in November.

A host of Hollywood names joined the line-up, including, Oscar® winning director Danny Boyle who was in conversation with BAFTA nominated screenwriter Frank Cottrell Boyce while Pulitzer Prize winning writer and actor Sam Shepard attended a screening of his classic movie, Paris, Texas in Brunswick Moviebowl.

Other highlights included; the Northern Ireland premieres of the most eagerly anticipated Disney films of 2013, Oscar-nominated animated adventure Frozen and Saving Mr Banks. An exciting new element to the Festival was undoubtedly the screening of Psycho with the original score played by the Ulster Orchestra. Film fans experienced a powerhouse of driving rhythms and eerie menace as the Ulster Orchestra performed Bernard Herrmann’s chilling score, while Hitchcock’s cinematic classic was shown above on the big screen in The Venue.

The Foyle Film Festival is one of only a handful of international festivals with Oscar® affiliation and BAFTA recognition. The 2013 Light in Motion (LIM) award for Best Irish Short Film was presented to Enniskillen-born Stephen Fingleton, for his gripping film SLR.
