Nerve Belfast Summer Film Week and Music Creation and Production Week

Film Week

Nerve Belfast Film Week took place this summer between August 7-11. A chance for young people aged 14-16 with little to no previous experience in filmmaking but have a keen interest for film and film production. The 11 young people worked together as a newly formed film crew to storyboard, film and edit a modern twist on a teenage western.

Each participant was given the opportunity to try out different roles during the week-long project and showcased their final film for friends and family at the end of the week. The film was such a success that it has been entered for the INTO Film and Cinemagic youth film festivals and will be available online later in the year.

Music Creation and Production Week

Young people were able to attend a four day course in July to help expand their knowledge in music creation and production and to gain a taster to industry life.
Over the course of the week the participants involved in the course created their own original track in Logic Pro X using MIDI keyboards, ROLI Blocks and a wide variety of live instruments.

The Music Creation and Production class

The class learned about structuring a track, recording live instruments, mixing and mastering techniques and a whole host of other tips and tricks to help them get the best sounding track possible. A compilation album was created at the end the of the week with everyone’s track on it and the results were excellent.
