Willie Barrett’s – Gweedore Reunion 2017

Wed 27 Dec 8:00pm
£10

Music, memories, grooves and nostalgia all under one roof!

A stellar night dedicated to celebrating the local music that found its feet and flourished in the legendary Gweedore Bar, music venue of the 80s and 90s.

The Nameless will headline with their rock blues juggernaut featuring big vocals, sweet guitar tones and bedrock drums to the event, a mainstay of the classic rock blues genre with the songs and swagger to match.

The indie-punk stylings of Bam Bam and The Calling reflecting their diverse range of influences from Television to The Velvets will be sure to please as they perform all their old tunes and wax lyrical with words of wisdom from local music sage and guru Paul PJ McCartney.

Fremonte emerged from Derry's murky shadows in the early 1980s as a young band with its roots in rock and rhythm and blues, drawing inspiration from bands such as Cream, The Stones, Thin Lizzy, Bowie and Dylan. It was back in Derry where they found their true home in Waterloo Street in the Gweedore Bar. Terence Morrison, Mark McCauley, Connie Taylor and Brian "Cooje" Mc Fadden have after three decades been persuaded to dust down their instruments and make their long awaited return to the stage.

Fronted by the queen of NI rock herself Jeanette Hutton, this will be Lady Js first show for the bands new line up that features major rock grooves and good old-fashioned authentic vocals.

The Reunion will kick off in some style as Declan McLaughlin brings his unmistakable songwriting to the stage.

If you are up for a trip down memory lane, come get your groove on and get your post Christmas nostalgia fix.
