Into Film Club

Into Film Clubs in Northern Ireland is a Northern Ireland Screen schools initiative designed to reduce disadvantage and is funded by the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure. The scheme is managed by Cinemagic and the Nerve Centre, in partnership with Into Film.

Into Film Clubs provide primary and post-primary children and young people with a space to watch, discuss and review films, as well as the training, resources and opportunities to make their own.

Membership offers access to thousands of fantastic films to watch, and opportunities for members to develop skills in reporting, programming and reviewing.

In addition to Into Film Clubs, we now provide free CPD sessions for all teaching staff across various areas of the N.I. curriculum including, raising literacy attainment, filmmaking and stop motion animation.

Bernard McCloskey, Head of Education with Northern Ireland Screen: 'Into Film Club plays an important part in Northern Ireland Screen’s aim to provide young people with better access to a wider range of film education opportunities. We want children to enjoy film in all its different forms with their friends and classmates. FILMCLUB is the perfect starting point on their film journey.”

Peter Torney, Principal, St Patricks Primary School Newtownstewart: “Into Film Club in our school has raised the profile and quality of verbal education in our classrooms. The club has also supported the teachers in their delivery outside of the sessions and provides a creative and innovative forum for delivery of cross-curricular themes.”

Into Film Club Northern Ireland Mark Cousins (filmmaker and author): “Into Film Clubs make such a difference for young people in schools in Northern Ireland. What a fantastic way to explore the world of film.  And by getting young people excited about movies now, we will help create the great Northern Irish filmmakers of the future. I just wish that there had been something this brilliant when I was growing up in Belfast."
